Milady CoffeeHouse

“Our mission, when starting Milady Coffeehouse, was to build a space for the people of Fremont and the surrounding areas to come together and build community. We aimed to provide a safe place where friends could meet, students could study, and connections could be made.

“Since opening in 2017, we have made countless friends, provided jobs, and most importantly, served quality coffee to our customers. Milady has become the essential hub that Fremont needed”.

“Glen and Nancy Ellis bought the building in 2014. They – alongside their sons, went on to do serious renovations to the building with the intention to bring it back to life while respecting the integrity of it. After 2 long years of hard work, the space was ready to be inhabited. Their goal was to revitalize downtown Fremont -to make it a destination that people want to visit, breathing new life into the town and creating an exciting central hub”

The Ellis’s looked to Omaha’s Oldmarket and Lincoln’s Haymarket to find inspiration of what type of businesses bring people to the downtown area. What they found was obvious and it was common, but something that Fremont currently lacked. These areas were filled with locally-owned coffee shops. A coffeeshop is inviting to all, relatively inexpensive, and encourages visitors. Fremont needed a local coffee shop.

At the time, no one in the Ellis family drank coffee or knew the first thing about running a coffee shop. Because of this, they asked various people in the coffee industry to help them out with this new project. Hardy Coffee Co. located in Omaha, NE answered the call. Autumn Pruitt, the owner of Hardy Coffee Co., graciously took the Ellis’s under her wing and began aiding them in the training of staff, drink making, and research on equipment needed to operate a coffeeshop. To this day, Milady owes Hardy Coffee Co. a great deal of credit for its success.

For the last 5 years, Milady Coffeehouse has been managed by Glen and Nancy’s daughter, Amy. They take pride in the fact that it is still a family business and will always be. Milady excels in three categories: Unique and charming atmosphere, high quality food & drink, and exceptional customer service. We hope to continue serving the Fremont community for many years to come.”
